DRAVID, WORST CRICKET CAPTAIN!!!
Kapil in his article on Indian cricket has expressed his doubts about Dravid's leadership qualities.Take Kumble the great cricketer from Karnataka and perhaps the greatest spin bowler Indian cricket has ever produced. He was dravid's state cricket team mate and played international matches so many times. When, coach of Indian cricket, Mr.Chappel wanted chop and change,to infuse, so called, fresh blood, who got chopped? Kumble, Ganguli, Laxman. After almost two years in the wilderness, Kumble comes back and in his first international cricket one day match in South Africa returns with a figures of 10 overs, 23 runs and 2 wickets. Out of the 4 one day international cricket matches in the on going tour of South Africa, he has given not more than 3.5 runs per over. And when you do not have the guts to stand up to this man, you are weak, no matter what. I agree, he is the one of the best batman Indian cricket has ever produced. He follows the Indian cricket coach to the letter as he was following Ganguly when Ganguly was the Indian cricket captain. But if you take his reaction or the lack of it when Ganguly was treated shabbily by Mr.Chappel. We know Chappel. He is the guy who asked his brother Trevor to bowl that infamous underarm delivery to defeat New Zealand in a one day international cricket match many years ago. I can recollect his condescending smile when Ganguly in his last cricket series took an unbelievable catch at long off. Mr.Chappel was readying himself for a hearty laugh expecting Ganguly to drop that skier when Ganguly pulled it off. You go and have a look at that clipping to see what I mean. That is why Imran and Ganguly were a great cricketing leaders. They could not only, judge a cricket player, they could nurture them. They created master strokes as leaders. If Inzamam, Waquar, Akram etc were the cricket version of masterpiece of of Akram, Ganguly helped Yuvaj, Zaheer, Harbajan to blossom under his leadership when they were young and new entrants to Indian cricket. ( will be continued when my mood and time permits)....
